PostSubject: Kito basic dat file {de/en}cryption tool   Wed Oct 05, 2011 11:32 pm

Revision 7

Presenting our basic tool for decryption and encrypting .dat files for IT

Revision 2: The basics and first public release.
Revision 3: Added ability to change the xor key by demand! A hash table is used to cache the used to decode/encode faster by reusing values. And progress status added
Revision 4: Added preChecksum and postChecksum and fixed KITO header to .dat files. Leave it to default value if your ITsource is unmodified.
Revision 5: a OR || was changed to a AND &&. That is all. Fixes the presence of encoded kito header
Revision 6: Now able to give an array of random numbers instead like: 4,7,2,74,23,64 instead
Revision 7: Raised line length limit from 255 to 25500

Usage
1. Select a input file,
1a. be it a .dat file you want to decrypt
1b. or a .txt file you want to encrypt
2. Select a output file
2a. be it a .dat file you want to decrypt
2b. or a .txt file you want to encrypt
3. Select ".dat file output" for encryption or deselect for decryption. This is selected for you automatically.
4. Input your xor key if your game uses a custom key. Remember to save it so you dont have to rewrite it every time.
5. DO IT button to do the thing.

Use "Swap input and output" to quickly change between encrypt and decrypt.

I personally think this should be taken down.
Or hidden from public. Only the admins of servers should had this and not the public.
I've heard a lot of people freak out about this tool that they
can hack any server with and it will only cause further problems.

How do you determine who should be given the tool?

People that have servers?
People that may have servers soon?
People that have concept and idea's for a new IT server?

Here lies to error in your suggestion. The game source is self is released to the public, but the tools to help those soon-to-be servers shouldn't be?

No ones fault but the admins if they don't encrypt is once more using their own methods. Pretty basic. Should cause any issues for people that know what they are doing with the source code.

As far as I know, Laxy (admin of ImpressiveWorld) could care less about this tool because of what I said above, and from what I know about their updates, this won't work.

I can't speak for over servers however, besides that they may not be ready to take on a task of handling an open source game.

Now you're getting it. We're releasing this to encourage server owners to make up their own xor encryption keys.
The next release of this tool will feature exactly that. And that tool is aimed at the server owners with their own keys.
I hope that tool will bring more peace to the server admins as their dat ability files will be proper encrypted.

If someone wish to replicate this tool, then http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reverse_Polish_notation is recommended to read

I keep getting that..
The dat files are in the right spot. And I didn't change nothing in the weird number things xD
All I did was what i usually do like the old one.

The encrypted text is right, so must be something wrong with the checksum left behind. Gonna check it out

Fixed and added an additional option that can do pre or post checksum.
Handled by the XOR7 function @ MagixExternalDefinitions.h

Laby,

it turns the encrypted ad1.dat, cd1.dat, cd2.dat into readable files you can edit and reencrypt.
In other words it turns:
Code:
\FtnFw
jkft=BPuk
o~(*5
ckvuPC^iC|r=20
ckvuPC^iJpjJKEna{!10
c|zloCBs3vsOFPu=9,.01
c|zloCBs3rpBYBb}'00.06
c|zloCBs3s}MMB+>;,1
c|zloCBs3{y@A]fmp-1,0)>%-
c|zloCBs3auF1,7 %,1
c|zloCBs3x}PA1+>;,1
te|pOnCh~(_VXT+=

Into:
Code:
[Hare]
mesh=hare
hp=65
decisionMin=20
decisionDeviation=10
dropList=collar3,0.01
dropList=glasses2,0.01
dropList=fangs,0.01
dropList=necklace11,0.001
dropList=tie1,0.001
skillDrop=Cure,3

And back again

I began testing this today and seem to have hit a roadblock. When using this tool, I find that it adds this string to the top of the file

Agyy MTikg}WOU'll<hceH

And the bottom of the file begins to look like this:

*#81---*#81---*#81---*#81
208076
*#81---*#81---*#81---*#81
212122

Seeing as how this doesnt appear at the first decryption I am left to assume that this is why the files don't work in the game.

Are two segments of text you're seeing added are indeed by the tool. The last lines are added to allow the tool to remove the checksum each time instead of having the user remove it.
The only reason I can think of why it is showing these strings as they are, is that you've been using "add checksum" while decrypting. You're only suppose to use it while encrypting

If you mean the .dat file output checkbox, I just let that thing run on its own. If you mean the prechecksum box, I tried playing around with that, same result.

EDIT: Also, the Agyy MTikg}WOU'll<hceH string adds another at every use. If this means anything to you.
