PostSubject: Scrollers Are Broken?   Thu Oct 06, 2016 11:32 pm

Hello!

I'm not quite sure what happened, but my scroll bar for the chat box stopped working. I'm not sure why this and I haven't messed with the chat box scroll bars in the UI or anything. This has completely puzzled me for a while and I'm not sure how or why this may have occurred on my build. If anyone could provide a bit of help that would be marvelous.

Thank you KITO!

What exactly did you add to your source?
I know one of the codes from dA bugs out the chat box and stash box and makes them unscrollable unless you bump the numbers by one.

First time I noticed it was when I added npc's and money in from Cent's build. I asked her about it but she never responded and unfriended me on skype :L

V6 source has this problem.
Open file MagixChatManager.cpp, change line (37)
Quote :
int start = int(chatString[channel].size()) - lines - (int)lastOffset*(int(chatString[channel].size()) - lines);
to
Quote :
int start = int(chatString[channel].size()) - lines - (int)(lastOffset*(int(chatString[channel].size()) - lines));
and change line (51)
Quote :
start = int(tChatBlock.size()) - lines - (int)lastOffset*(int(tChatBlock.size()) - lines);
to

start = int(tChatBlock.size()) - lines - (int)(lastOffset*(int(tChatBlock.size()) - lines));

My advice is not to get code off people unless you yourself have some measure of coding knowledge or you know for sure that the person you got the code off will be willing to help with any troubles and fix any mistakes that their coding caused.

I would stick to coders who take commissions here on KITO - Worthis and Hyper have both proven to me to be very reliable and willing to fix issues. I have not personally commissioned Myz, but I have heard similar feedback.

You get what you pay for I guess. -shrugs-

Perhaps Slain could expand on the 'bumping numbers by one' thing as a possible fix?

Rule number one for these things should be: pictures pictures pictures. They really do help.

But I digress. Slain's right. You're scroller count is off. maybe by one, maybe by more. It depends on just how many new buttons you've added to the multiplayer screen.

Go into MagixGui.h. Look at the very top. There's a bunch of stuff that says "Max_blahblahblah" and numbers.

Conveniently, those numbers tell the game how many of these things are being used. If the count is off by even one, you end up with a lot of seemingly random broken buttons, sliders, and movers.

Bump up the "MAX_BUTTONS" by 1.
Did it fix the issue?
Yes? Good
No? Bump up the "MAX_SLIDERS" by 1.
Did it fix the issues?
Yes? Good.
No? Repeat process.

Since you don't seem to recall the exact event that created the issue, I advise doing this one "MAX'" at a time and by increments of 1. It's a slow process to be sure, but it is much better to do things slowly and carefully.
