PostSubject: Guide/ How to convert Objects in Blender 2.49b for Impressive Title Map   Fri May 22, 2015 11:34 pm

Hey folks ! This tutorial will explain you how to convert simple objects for your map.
You do not know how to make your own map? Well ! take a look right here:

http://www.kitopen.com/t3141-map-making-tutorial-guide

Tools and Downloads:

Paint.net
Download: Blender 2.49b
OgreCommandLineTools: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ogre/files/ogre-tools/1.6.0/OgreCommandLineTools_1.6.0.msi/download
__

First go to this awesome website:
http://archive3d.net/

I will download this one:

http://archive3d.net/?a=download&id=f3c78bd0

Then open Blender, MAKE SURE WHAT YOU DOWNLOAD CAN BE IMPORTED IN BLENDER
such as .3DS .stl etc...

So now go to File>Import> 3D Studio (3ds)
Spoiler:

Select your file .3DS and open it.
Spoiler:

Most of the time what you download is high poly, which means it will cause a huge lag issue in-game so you will need to go to "add modifier" in the "editing" section and select "decimate":

Spoiler:

Now you've got this:
Spoiler:

Edit Ratio: 1.000 to 0.100 which will lower the poly count.
Then click on "Apply" if the poly count is still too high
Re-do add modifier>decimate and edit ratio to 0.200.
Now I have "2819" poly count which is low, don't forget to smooth the mesh.

Spoiler:

Alright now you can see at the left "Transform Properties" (Click on N to enable it):
Spoiler:

Now click on Ctrl+A; Scale and Rotation to Obdata in Object Mode:
Spoiler:

Then edit LocY to 0.000, your "Transform Properties" must be like this:
Spoiler:

Alright now you have to set the object position at the middle and on the grid, make sure you are in edit mode if not you will have to redo the "transform properties" steps.
Spoiler:

Alright now that the position is set, let's do the UV.
Make sure your in Edit mode then search for UV/Image editor:
Spoiler:

Then click on "1" to be in front view and click on "U" and select "Project from view "bounds":
Spoiler:

Alright now that you have your UV, go to UVs>Scripts>Save UV face layout and save:
Spoiler:

Go to the folder where you saved it and open it in paint.net then save it as a png file and make the texture. When your done making the texture save it and go back to Blender and click on
"Image">"Open":
Spoiler:

Then search for your texture and open it. Good now follow the picture:
Spoiler:

Now that we have it's texture we need to set it's material, go back to "Buttons Windows"
Spoiler:

Now follow the image:
Spoiler:

Alright now that you have it's material let's export it ! but before i will have to make it bigger
So you'll need to be in edit mode and click on "S" and move your mouse to make it bigger, then move it so it's on the grid. (The grid represent the ground)
Spoiler:

Next step Export the object:
Spoiler:

Now click on "Export"
Spoiler:

Alright now let's go to your OgreCommandLineTools folder and find this:
Spoiler:

Now grab sofa.mesh.xml to OgreXmlConverter.exe:
Spoiler:

Then a black screen will pop up and will convert your sofa.mesh.xml to sofa.mesh:
Spoiler:

Now place Sofa.material Sofa.png and Sofa.mesh to your folders (like Trees as you like)
Alright now that you've done that, go to your terrain folder and open .world and write:

Code:
[Object]
sofa.mesh
position
1 1 1 <- size
0 0 0 <- rotation

Oh! so tiny !
Spoiler:

You have two options:

First option:
Go back to blender and make it bigger and re-export it.

Second option:
Edit the size to "10 10 10"

I will choose the second option, Here you go !
Spoiler:
